Co-owned by Loosh and Oscar, Waxy Apples Vintage is truly a special store with a big range and an even bigger heart. It’s extraordinary, the community and collection of items they have curated.

Colloquially known as Waxy Apples, the store stocks a wide variety of items, including vintage and handmade clothing, jewellery, lip gloss, shoes, stickers, art, and so much more. It’s beautiful how many of these items have been sourced from local artists and designers — when you shop here, you are supporting an entire community of creatives. Their range is eclectic, unique and fun; these are the type of things you can’t find anywhere else.

Beyond the quality of their products, Waxy Apples cares deeply about creating a welcoming environment for customers and supporting local creatives, going beyond simply stocking their work.

Some of the things that make Waxy Apples so inviting are the friendly staff, ranging in age from 15 to 63, who are more than happy to help you with anything. There’s a wall dedicated to customers’ drawings and a pool table in the back, providing a safe place for kids to hang out.

But Waxy Apples is so much more than just a clothing store. Loosh and Oscar frequently host community events, including movie nights, tooth gem pop-ups (small gem accessories you stick to your teeth using adhesives), and live drawing. They also invite charities like YJQ (Young Jewish Queers) to host their own events. Right now, they have open-deck nights every Thursday until February, where DJs can try out their new material in a super supportive environment.
