It’s a fantastic place for brunch with many artisan cafes and bakeries dotted along Glen Huntly Road, and with more than 30 restaurants featuring cuisines from around the world, Elsternwick is spoilt for choice when it comes to dining.

Looking to meet up with friends for a few drinks and nibbles? Set in an historic building in the heart of Elsternwick Village, Bang Bang at the Rifle Club offers a great menu of cocktails, tap beers, bar snacks and small sharing plates. It’s a perfect spot for Friday night social gatherings. Hanoi Hannah offers delicious Vietnamese street eats at affordable prices. Eat in to experience an authentic dining atmosphere or takeaway to enjoy the flavours at home – both menus are good.

Following a meal, why not enjoy a film? The Classic Cinemas is an Elsternwick institution, featuring arthouse films alongside the mainstream blockbusters, which also plays host to the annual Jewish International Film Festival in October/November.

Elsternwick train station makes getting here a breeze, providing easy access to the heart of Elsternwick. The station is located on the Sandringham line and the journey is only 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD.

Enjoy some time out or grab a bite to eat and head to Elsternwick Plaza – the area, adjacent to Elsternwick station, provides a great meeting spot and gives visitors the chance to experience the open-air atmosphere of Elsternwick’s vibrant shopping precinct.

Take a short walk or hop on a tram to nearby Rippon Lea Estate, a Romanesque mansion surrounded by a 14 acre picturesque garden. Enjoy a stroll around the gardens while taking in the historic site which is a culturally significant to the area.
