Mister Baker in Elsternwick Village

Tucked towards the Kooyong Road end of Elsternwick Village, Mister Baker is a bakery built on resilience, tradition, and community. Opened in 2020, just before COVID, the owners, Aviv and Paulina, have steadily grown the business despite early challenges, supported by strong community relationships and a clear commitment to quality. With Aviv starting his days at 3am, the passion behind the bakery is evident in everything they do.

The menu is rooted in European tradition, with influence from the pastry chef’s Hungarian background and family recipes passed down through generations. Everything is made fresh daily using natural, chemical-free and preservative-free ingredients. There is a wide range of sweet favourites, including danishes, tortes, cakes, challah, burekas, bagels, and expect a wider range of savoury bites like chips, falafel and other kinds of Middle Eastern fare arriving soon.

As a fully kosher establishment operating in partnership with Kosher Australia, Mister Baker also honours Jewish traditions through its seasonal offerings. Expect honey cakes for Rosh Hashanah, doughnuts for Chanukkah, and cheesecakes for Shavuot, each made with the same care and authenticity as their everyday menu.

Mister Baker can accommodate requests for special, customised messages on cakes for all your various celebrations and occasions. Simply let them know what you need!

What truly sets Mister Baker apart is its heart. 10% of profits are donated to charity, leftover food is often given to those in need, and first responders (from Hatzolah to police and firefighters) are always welcomed with free coffee.

More than just a bakery, it’s a place where generosity, culture, and genuinely good food come together. Bring your loved ones and go check out this incredible place in Elsternwick Village.

Mister Baker operates daily from 7am to 6pm. Please note that on Fridays, they close one hour before sunset, so it’s advisable to check the sunset time before your visit. The bakery is closed every Saturday for Shabbat (Jewish Sabbath).
