Celebrate In One Voice, Elsternwick’s Jewish culture street festival
Elsternwick’s premier Jewish culture street festival, In One Voice, returns this year to celebrate everything that’s great about the Jewish community.
Elsternwick is home to one of the country’s most vibrant, active and culturally rich Jewish communities, and on March 19 you’re invited to celebrate everything that’s great about the Jewish community at In One Voice.
In One Voice is Elsternwick’s cultural street festival that showcases the extraordinary talent, creativity, and contribution of Jewish culture.
Featuring some of Australia’s most exciting and innovative musicians, artists, foodies and community groups, In One Voice invites all members of the Elsternwick community to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and tastes of one the world’s oldest and richest cultures.
Here’s what you can expect from the event:
Live music
Performing on stage this year will be Old Man River (aka Ohad Rein) – a singer, songwriter, producer and mixing engineer who believes in the power of music to uplift, heal and change the world for better.
There will also be performances from Yiddish Divas, a cabaret group of inter-generational singers and musicians; Max König will hit the stage with his soulful, mesmerising saxophone; Mishn will share their heady mix of Yiddish klezmer and Latin grooves; and Mazelrock Duo will play a stripped back acoustic offshoot of simcha band, Mazelrock.
There will be plenty more music performances taking place, so be sure to check the schedule.
Food
Feast on Jewish cuisine, from classic Kosher staples to vegan options and Jewish fusion, at a range of stalls manned by vendors as colourful and enticing as their produce.
You’ll be able to choose from a variety of dishes and snacks including the In One Voice sausage sizzle, which raises money to ensure the festival stays free for years to come.
There will also be delicious and healthy meals from Mama Falafel; Italian-style artisan gelato from Vanilla & Co; pita pockets filled with fresh Mediterranean ingredients from The Pita Man; Kosher coffee and milkshakes from Howzit Brew; light and fluffy donuts from OMG! Delicious Donuts, and so much more.
Makers Market
The Makers Market will showcase a vibrant and diverse mix of the innovative and creative makers in the Jewish community.
Pick up an original piece of art or simply browse through the stalls packed with home-made, locally designed arts and crafts, jewellery, clothing, furniture, and homemade produce.
Live Art Space
New to In One Voice for 2023 is the Live Art Space, which will feature a quiet corner where artists create incredible artworks in front of festival-goers.
Artists will showcase their talents across several mediums including paint, charcoal, and mixed media.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast or simply want to explore your love of the arts, come down and see the creative process in action and immerse yourself in the vibrant community of Jewish artists.
With One Aim
In One Voice shines a light on the many Jewish social groups working across different areas but with one aim: to make a better world.
Speakers from youth, women’s and ecological groups, synagogues and sporting organisations will share their stories and raise awareness about what has been and can be achieved when the Jewish community come together.
Last year, more than 70 Jewish community groups participated in With One Aim, expressing the extraordinary diversity of Jewish community life, and this year promises to be bigger and better. Don’t miss out!
