Coles Elsternwick supermarket reopens on October 27
Coles supermarket in Elsternwick Village is set to reopen on Sunday, October 27.
Signage erected at the shopfront this week confirms the date for the new store’s “grand opening”.
UPDATE: Coles Elsternwick reopens, provides 233 jobs and largest kosher range in Australia
The old Coles Elsternwick store closed in October 2017 and was demolished to make way for a redeveloped supermarket with more than 200 carpark spaces, an open-style meat counter and in-store bakery.
The new supermarket will also be home to a market-style fresh produce area and a larger range of kosher and international products.
While Coles renovates their Elsternwick store, they have opened a Coles Express in the interim so locals can still buy staple groceries.
Located at 467 Glen Huntly Rd, at the corner of Beavis St, Coles Express offers grocery essentials like bread, milk, toilet paper and a range of kosher products.
The big picture
The new Coles supermarket is part of The Mark mixed-use development, which will include 173 residential units and a Liquorland store.
Developer Moniton enlisted architects Rothelowman and i2C to design the scheme, along with builder Hacer to oversee its construction.
Elsternwick residents can expect to see the project, located at 441-461 Glen Huntly Rd, to continue to rise out of the ground over the coming months after the builder completed the basement level last year.
