Centrally located on the bustling Elsternwick Village precinct, among cafes, boutiques and bakeries, sits a charming slice of France that has fast become a local favourite. O My Crepe, a cosy creperie in the heart of Elsternwick Village, is bringing traditional French comfort food to Melbourne’s south-east, one delicious bite at a time.

At the helm of the business is co-owner Emilie Debas, who, alongside her husband Marc, opened O My Crepe with a dream to blend authentic French flavours with the diverse food culture of Melbourne.

“We always had this idea of launching our own business. Marc’s background in hospitality really inspired him to create his own shop… we really wanted to bring our unique offering to the quite vibrant food scene on Glen Huntly Rd,” said Ms Debas.

With a welcoming atmosphere and a focus on simple, quality ingredients, O My Crepe is quickly becoming a go-to spot for locals wanting to indulge in something both comforting and unique.

Bringing the taste of France to Elsternwick Village

Emilie and Marc’s journey to Elsternwick Village is a truly international one. The husband-and-wife team have lived and worked in France and the United States before settling in Australia to open their creperie.

Marc, a classically trained French chef with more than 20 years’ experience, is the creative force behind the menu. His deep love for food, particularly for his homeland’s cuisine, is evident in every dish served at O My Crepe.

The eatery specialises in sweet crepes with classic toppings, as well as savoury galettes. While crepes are more familiar to Australian diners, traditional galettes are a rarity outside of France, something the pair wanted to change.

“Crepes and galettes are quite a simple product and made with simple ingredients, but the product is very versatile and can be adapted to lots of different tastes – the toppings are never-ending,” said Ms Debas.

Customers can choose to dine in or take away, making O My Crepe a flexible option whether you’re seeking a leisurely bite or a quick, satisfying lunch on the go.

Discover a delicious menu of crepes and galettes

O My Crepe’s menu is a celebration of French culinary tradition, balanced with a touch of Melbourne-style innovation.

Their galettes, made with buckwheat flour, are naturally gluten and dairy free, making it a great option for those with dietary requirements. They are filled with a variety of tasty, thoughtful combinations.

One popular option is the La Complete, featuring Emmental cheese, ham, and egg – a French classic that hits all the right notes. Others, like the La Grecque, stuffed with feta, olives, sundried tomatoes, and spinach, offer a wonderful combination of Greek flavours. For something a little more indulgent, La Chevre combines goat cheese, fig jam, walnuts, and spinach.

For the sweet crepes, the offerings are just as tempting. From the humble lemon and sugar to gooey hazelnut chocolate spread or golden caramel sauce, there’s something nostalgic and satisfying for everyone.

For the more adventurous, a rotating selection of specials brings fresh surprises. Think crepes with fresh strawberries, matcha and white chocolate sauce, or savoury galettes featuring smoked salmon, creme fraiche, lemon, and chives.

“There’s a never-ending range of options for the different flavour combinations,” said Ms Debas.

“Marc is always able to find really interesting new products and pairings, as well as fresh, local ingredients. That’s a never-ending source of inspiration for him.”

The rotating menu also allows O My Crepe to stay fresh and exciting for regulars.

“It’s really important to us to offer something different on a regular basis so our customers can try something new. Marc loves to use seasonal ingredients as much as possible. He really wants to keep locals and regulars happy and offer them something new,” said Ms Debas.

To complement the menu, O My Crepe serves a full range of coffee made to order by Marc himself, a trained barista. Whether it’s a strong espresso or a velvety latte, it’s the perfect accompaniment to any dish.

A love for local community

While Emilie and Marc’s hearts are firmly rooted in French tradition, their love for the Elsternwick Village community is what truly sets O My Crepe apart. The couple live locally and are passionate about contributing to the vibrant, close-knit neighbourhood.

“We really wanted to bring that little French corner to Elsternwick,” said Ms Debas.

“We’re always looking to infuse that French comfort food into our daily lives, and now we can share that with the local community.”

That local ethos extends beyond their customers and into their sourcing practices. O My Crepe regularly partners with nearby suppliers, supporting local producers and markets. For example, they source pistachio paste from Alessandro Luppolo, a local artisan, and other key ingredients from trusted vendors nearby.

For Emilie and Marc, their food is not just a business – it’s a deeply personal expression of culture, family, and creativity.

“We also wanted to bring that piece of France that we were craving [to the local community],” said Ms Debas.

“Marc is also passionate about food and he loves to share that with people, and he wanted to bring this simple, interesting product [to people] but with his own spin on it that he can revisit over and over again.”
