The Block comes to Elsternwick

Home renovation enthusiasts are invited to an exclusive look at The Block’s five finished houses before auction day.

The Block’s official open for inspection day will be held on Sunday, October 15 between 10am and 2pm at 46 Regent St, Elsternwick.

Fans of the popular home renovation TV show will have the chance to meet the cast and get an in-person look at each of the properties.

On the day, there will also be several stall holders at the southern end of Regent St where vendors, including community groups and fundraisers, will be selling goods.

Visitors to The Block’s open for inspection day are encouraged to visit the Elsternwick Village shopping precinct while they are in the area.

Head down to Glen Huntly Rd and surrounds to enjoy a coffee, grab a delicious brunch at a local cafe or try a lunch from all corners of the world.

The lively shopping strip has plenty on offer including women’s fashion stores, health and beauty services and specialty shops.

Getting to The Block via public transport

Visitors to Elsternwick site are encouraged to use public transport on the day as roads will be closed and local streets will be re-zoned strictly for residential parking only. Parking officers will be patrolling the area during the event and anyone parked without a resident permit will be fined.

The Block site at 46 Regent St, Elsternwick is accessible via multiple modes of public transport.

By train: Take the Sandringham Line and disembark at Elsternwick Station. The Block site is approximately a five-minute walk from the train station – head north along Gordon St, turn right into Sinclair St, and left on to Regent St where you will find The Block.

By tram: Take route 67 between City and Carnegie. Disembark at tram stop 44 – Elsternwick Station and walk to the site from there, via the route detailed above.

By bus: There are several bus routes that travel to Elsternwick, including the below routes:

  • Route 216 from Caroline Springs, Footscray, City – Elsternwick
  • Route 219 from Sunshine, City, South Yarra, Prahran – Elsternwick
  • Route 246 from Clifton Hill, Abbotsford, Richmond, St Kilda – Elsternwick
  • Route 606 from Port Melbourne, Middle Park, St Kilda – Elsternwick
  • Route 625 from Malvern East, Oakleigh, Ormond – Elsternwick.

Backpacks not permitted

Backpacks and large bags will not be allowed to enter the houses at the open for inspection. All backpacks must be left with security prior to entry and collected upon departure. Please note, all belongings are to be left with security at your own risk and The Block will not be held accountable for lost property.

Disability access

As the houses are stand-alone structures, there is no lift for disability access. There are also stairs up to each front door and two internal staircases. As such, access for visitors with limited mobility will be very difficult and The Block cannot guarantee accessibility.
